How Do I Get a Bail Bond?
As you may have guessed, if you have been checking out other bail bond companies they all charge the same price. The cost of a bail bond is set by the state. Washington Bail Bonds are set @10% of the bond amount. A 10% example would be this; Somebody gets arrested for a dui (driving under the influence). Once they have been booked into the Clark County Jail and the jail staff has processed the defendant (fancy name for somebody who has been arrested) he/she will be given a bail amount. Bail can range anywhere from $500.00 to $50,000 depending on the circumstances. Once the Defendant’s bail is set he/she is then eligible to make a phone call to our bail bond office. If the Clark County Jail staff set the bail at $2,500.00 the bond will cost $250.00. The amount charged for the bail bond is called the premium. Just like any other insurance product (bail bonds are a surety bond and we are regulated by the Office of the Insurance Commissioner) when we post bail for the defendant our premium is considered earned and is non refundable.
Bail Bond Responsibility
When a bail bond is purchased, the bail bond agency requires an indemnitor. An indemnitor is somebody who has the ability to be responsible for the entire bond amount if for any reason the defendant was to miss his/her court appointments and disappear from us. The likelihood of this happening is rare as only about 3% of the defendants miss court and about 75% of those missed court appointments are due to court clerical errors or calendars changing without the defendant being notified. We work diligently to make sure that the defendant know’s of all pendiing Clark County Court appointments and will do our best to contact the defendant prior to the court appointment to let them know they have a court date. In the rare case that a defendant FTA’s (failure to appear) we will make every effort to contact you and the defendant to make sure we can get them back to court and quash the warrant if the Judge has imposed one.
Recovery Agents - Bounty Hunters
In cases where we fail to locate the defendant and have their warrant quashed, we will work with you to help us locate them. If for some reason we are not able to locate the defendant we will contract with a licensed Washington state recovery Agent (bounty hunter). Washington State DOL requires all recover agents to undergo stringent training and testing. The training includes various apprehension, transportation and general law enforcement techniques. Our recovery agents are contracted. We only use licensed recovery agents who have met our requirements for training and ethics. We do not tolerate yahoos (dog the bounty hunter). Our bail bond agents and bail bond recovery agents are professional and will treat you with respect.
